Waiting on Iran
Marc Schulman over at the blog American Future provides us a possible timeline for US involvement in Iran. Citing a US-Anglo split, he points out that the US would have to wait until after the British elections in a few months to take any action against Iran.
What happens from here? I would be extraordinarily surprised if the US were to take overt military action of any kind against Iran before the expected British elections in May. Above and beyond the fact that no one believes that the situation is that urgent, doing so would almost certainly result in a nasty, public split between Bush and Blair -- which is the last thing that Bush wants. Given British public opinion, Blair would have to distance himself from Bush to be reelected. The rest of the piece isn't long, you can find it here.
